Reading the Field Abandonment Report
The Field Abandonment report shows you exactly which fields users fill in and which they skip or abandon. Use it to identify friction points and improve your form's completion rate.
In your WordPress admin, go to Formcierge → Analytics. Select the form you want to analyse from the dropdown. The overview shows your completion rate, average time on form, and total submissions for the selected date range.
Below the summary stats, the Field Completion chart shows a horizontal bar for each field. The bar length = percentage of sessions where that field was filled in. Fields with short bars are friction points.
The field with the lowest completion rate is your form's biggest drop-off point. Look for fields where completion drops sharply compared to the fields above them — this is where users abandon the form.
Common fixes for low completion fields:
- Make the field optional if it isn't truly required
- Improve the label or help text to clarify what's being asked
- Move the field later in the form (after trust has been established)
- Replace a text field with a select or radio for quicker input
Re-check the analytics after a week of live traffic to measure the impact of your changes. A well-optimised form should have field completion rates above 80% for all required fields.
